Every material has its characteristics and therefore there is no absolute good or bad material. Depending on the way to use the materials we can say whether they are appropriate for a specific purpose or not. As a designer and artist I define the value by myself. This guiding principle can be found in the work – a cookie as an earring holder made of wood (Medium-density fibreboard (MDF)). MDF is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers combining it with wax and a resin binder and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF doesn’t have beautiful wood grain, but I like its pretty smooth brown colour. It inspires me. I take advantage of the natural colour of MDF and made it into cookies.
The cookie earring holders are sturdy and light. The wooden cookies in two sizes accompany users in various daily situations - the big one stays at home and the small one is suitable for carrying around.
