Since 2014| Porcelain | The diameter of each porcelain stone is about 11 mm
Inspired by geological cross-section, I layer the colored porcelain on top of each other, so the side view reveals the resulting pattern. Therefore every single line means a portion of time. Different from the natural rock layers, I plan the layering process precisely to achieve the desired visual representation.
Between the principle of layering, labor-intensive making process, and artistic freedom, there is an overlap that the material and I have interacted with each other. How can the behavior of materials inspire our thinking? How can we turn the limitation of materials into endless potential? The porcelain stones create an open dialogue to deal with these questions and offer a new perspective of seeing.
