Have you ever noticed the color of the soil? In this workshop, we will explore ways of using soil for imaging processes through guided experiments.
The artistic development process involves gathering, analyzing, understanding, and transforming information. It encompasses experimenting with materials and expressing our ideas. Through this workshop, participants will experience and learn about an artist's process.
The soil used in the workshop will be sourced from the local region to impart an understanding of local, natural materials to the participants.
My motivation for curating this workshop with soil stems from my experience as a ceramic artist. I've observed the difference in the color of clay before and after firing. To reveal the natural color of the soil, one must forgo the firing process. Therefore, I started exploring ways to use soil as an artistic material without firing it.
